March 2021
Hello everyone and welcome to my reefing journey! This system was setup in July 2020. So much has changed since then, so let me highlight some major changes.
1) I went from having a sandbed to barebottom because I got tired of seeing bald spots due to high flow. I do not regret this decision since maintenance has been easy without sand. The only negative thing about having barebottom is that I cannot add a feminus wrasse
2) Second major change involves my plan to have an SPS-only tank. My wife really loves euphyllias and gonis so I have no choice
3) Third, I initially wanted angels in the tank but that idea was abandoned when I added other corals.
4) Fourth, I had to disband my tang gang (got rid of the yellow tangs, purple tang, and gem tang) because I wanted to add other types of fish. I'm really happy with this decision since my three tangs now (black longnose, powderblue, and whitetail bristletooth) all get along well! The rest of our fish are listed under "current fish."
5) Fifth, I sold my Red Sea Reefer 170 since I didn't really have much time to maintain two tanks. However, I still would like to setup an anemone-only tank in the future.
6) My initial tang gang developed ich so I've decided to remove all of my corals and do hypo. I'm happy to say that all fish are ich-free, fat, and healthy. Since then, I've only added fish from TSMAquatics or Marinecollectors.
Thanks for tagging along and happy reefing!
