here are some pics of some bad guys after a Bayer treatment on some frags from QT frag tank . Acro eating nudibranchs and I think I see a flat worm or two. Thoughts. ?

Here is. A pic from this morning appears the bayer dip was not even strong enough to kill the AEFW. Here is a pic of him in the Hana vial. Up top on the side.

I have been reading on this and other forums that no dip is affective against MEN or AEFW . Manual removal and preditors such as wrasses and springer demsels is all we have left.
Manuel removal is aggressively basting the corals , toothbrushes,ect

I’d ask for a refund from the seller. I’d also post in the feedback forums so we can see who it is. There is no excuse to sell anyone anything like that.

I cannot post where the frags came from .. the QT is housing frags from Several Stores. All of which I am very friendly with. All of which dip and dip. This is an example of some eggs getting through the process. Or the Bayer Dip to weak. Live and Learn.. I also failed to throw out one of the plugs.. meaning.. what I do is usually break off the frag and re-glue to a fresh plug and dip. That way any eggs on the plug ect at discarded. This also shows me the need to dip and redip and redip..

I would recommend using melafix over bayer. Its clear and kills AEFW ALOT better then bayer.

I agree. Melafix kills AEFW. It’s great as a dip!

There are many ways to treat aefw and many dips that work great for them, best being melafix ime or revive as a second. The acro nudi is what I would worry about most. But I have yet to see a bad infestation of them. Seen then a few times on incoming pieces while working at shops but yet to see someone infested with them. I believe they leave small bite marks. But nudi are much harder to kill with dips. I would experiment with melafix and coral rx and revive and ditch the Bayer.
I have seen so many people get pests from using Bayer because they can’t see inside the dip, or they didn’t use enough dip. I have seen monti nudi move around in Bayer dip for hours

Well flat worm exit did not work.. I am going to dip the frag trays outside of the tank over the weekend.. give them a day or two as today we did the failed Flat Worm Exit.. found this guy just now on the tank glass... interestingly did not see any come off in the treatment tub?

Salifert Flatworm Exit (or levamisole) will not kill AEFW unless you use such a high dose that the corals will suffer too.

KZ Flatworm Stop at a double dose will interrupt their life cycle and not allow them to reproduce anymore. It will not kill the worms, but it does make them die childless, so you are flatworm free in 3-5 months when the big ones die of old age. This works great for an in-tank treatment, but it takes time and the product is not super cheap for larger systems. Some fools use it and don't know how to read and post that it did not kill the worms, but nobody ever said that it would.

UWC has a product called Purge that has a VERY wide range of results from successes to complete tank crashes. The most typical result is that some worms die, but not all. I would stay away from this.

Bayer will kill AEFW. Guaranteed. I sometimes mix a dip of up to 15-20% Bayer since it is safe on all acropora that I have ever seen. CoralRx and Revive will too. So does melafix.

The Flatworm Stop can be good if you have time since it will save the stress of daily dips. Eventually these can take a toll on some corals. If you are going to dip, make sure that you dip all of the stuff in the tank and even clean it out and wipe it dry. They nasty buggers can hide out on the glass, seams and pumps sometimes.

There are some natural predators that will eat stuff, but they cannot get inside of colonies where the infestations occur.

thanks for the update. quick question.. anyway to use melafix for the 30 gallon QT. Assuming let say a large water change.. in otherwords I would dose the QT tank. as I write this I am thinking the alternative of putting the Frag trays in a tupperware.. Treat and empty the tank is not bad either..

If you want to treat your qt, you can also Dr's g coral dip. I used before and works excellent. There are a few information around r2r
