It’s a beautiful coral. Ours is grown under natural sunlight. You guys still use t5 or use led?
What bulbs and mods?! Colors are insaneNot anymore. Modified 8 bulb ATI now.
thanks, it blows my mind too, when i dont see the tank often. It's situated in my garage so I dont see it most of the day. What bulbs and mods?! Colors are insane
I've been thinking about modding out my 8x60 sunpower. I have 2 spare RB XHOs. I'll have to see if they can fit where the two center bulbs sit or if they can be reconfigured. Already have two bars on the outer edges of the fixture but thinking two in the center would really pack a punch. IMO, T5/LED combo will never be out performed for both growth and colorthanks, it blows my mind too, when i dont see the tank often. It's situated in my garage so I dont see it most of the day.
I'm running the 8 bulb with 3 B+, 2 true actinic, and 1 GE 6500k; the two other slots are occupied by a custom led layout from Coral Euphoria. Arguably the best combo I've run for the results im having. The fluorescence i get at the end of the night is stunning.
I did add a single OR4 blue plus bar recently just to fill in some spots towards the front of the tank, but wondering if I should have just ran the regular blue bar instead.

hands down the best tanks I've seen, with the best fluorescence, have come from T5 lit tanks, or a combo thereof. All LED does work, but the coloration is NOT the same; You can't convince me otherwise. Unfortunately, T5 is a dying technology. I had to buy 20 Giesemann super actinic bulbs while I could from coralvue. No one is stocking 48" ATI True actinics anymore.Yo Brother,
I will say that t5 is the most complete, self encompassing, and flat even spread with punch that I have seen in reefing and in botany. When you work with both plants and corals, you realize this, and I will say that LED is coming up though, it is simply too much wattage to replace something that is already proven. For example, the tank size I have, the ATI 6 bulb unit at 36" replicates identically to the Reefbreeders V232pro. In fact, I have grown to like this arrangement better, especially for building a nerdy schedule. The coverage is 100% even hung at 16" above water line, would be from 8", and seriously, that is what LED manufacturers will have to do, end to end front to back. This is now getting into the same, if not more wattage, and more fail points, similar heat exchange, and just enough to mimic, not replace. I know you know you too are into all sorts of tropicals, and understand the sun is not easily replicated. The best tanks I have seen are under t5, period. Halides in combo, if you have a chiller, now we are talking. I would design for a standard 120gallon, 2xOrphek OR3Blues, 4x54watt t5 with B+x2 and P+x2, then 2x250 watt SE Radiums. Zen...
