My large cap/encrusting colony's have a white mucus on them that appears to open and look flemmy in the evening and during the night. Also seems to be appearing on my Jesus stag. Most of these are way to big to dip. Any advice on what it is and how to treat?

Have you checked for pests such as monti eating nudis?

Are those mesenterial filaments, is the Montipora going to war with the Pocillopora at night?

They are a bit. The picture is a bit deceiving on depth. The poc is about 7 inches tall vertically and the cap is coming in under the growth of the poc where it's bleaching do to it's size. There are other montis with the same issue and nothing growing near it.

Peeps are gonna want to know chemistry, just saying. o_O

Any areas of just skeleton, no tissue?

And your sure the corals is not plagued by MEN (Montipora eating Nudibranch)?

It's weird I have seen a couple other longer term hobbyist with large Monti colonies with what looks like the same issue.

The tank is almost 10 yrs old. Some of the monti colonies are over a foot with 3-5 layers. Parms last night: alk 9.2, calc 510, mag 1350. No2 2-5 ppm , amm undetectable.

No pest, I broke a piece off last night to pull out and look close out. It's a mucous film that seems to concentrated in pockets across the coral.
