You should be fine with those settings for those easier sps. You may or may not have enough light for some of the higher light demand acropora depending on the size of your tank. I recommend getting your hands on a par meter before trying acropora. Primes are pretty low “par”ered unless you max them out or space them close together.

Question. I only see three spectrums of light if you will. Would they not need five for proper photosynthesis?

I run 3 AI Prime HDs (not 16) on my 40 breeder using BRS settings. I'm not super impressed. Shading is a problem when you have a single row of lights. I, just yesterday, got the par meter I ordered from brs. Around 5-6 inches from the top, the par is 200-275. This will work for some acros, but I want that number to be closer to 350-400 at the top. At the bottom and bottom edges, it's 80-100. These are good numbers for a mixed reef, but I want a wall to wall sps tank and this isn't it for me. I use the black screen netting with 1/4" spacing as well, so the actual numbers are lower.

Should I be worried about the shading ?

BRS suggested moving the lights laterally. Your lights can overlap if to close causing hot spots ( high Par values ) in the middle their rule of thumb is to move them till you see them spilling over the edges of the tank

I only want a few sps cause I enjoy more soft coral and euphyillia the two sps I have are about 4 and 6 inches from the water level and the lights are about 8 inches off the water level and things seem to be okay for now. I’ll get a 3rd 16hd probably and see what happens everyone looks happy for the most part all polyps are extended
