Hello. This is my rainbowloom acro. I had it for six months now. It was fluffy and happy a month before. Recently, the polyp is not open anymore but it still fully extend. The polyp is not fluffy and soft anymore it looks kind stiff. I also noticed the skin is not that smooth anymore, it's kind of wrinkling. What might be the cause of this? Thanks

Alk is a little low as well as assurance of proper lighting and water flow

Doesn't look too unhappy, I wouldn't let it worry me too much.

Water chems look okay 7dkh isn't too low, esp for only having .03 PO⁴. NSW is around 6.7-7.0 dkh. If anything bump phosphate up at bit to .05-.08 and observe

What kind of fish/ inverts do you have? possible anything started picking at it? Have you taken a really close look for potential pests? redbugs? aefw bites? vermetid snail near by ?

I don't have any fish isn't reef safe or with caution. I watch my tank constantly did not notice any fish pick any of my sps. The polyp is fully extended just not open. I used a magnify glass to check every coral did not see any bug or worm. This is the only coral doing this. Other coral has really good and normal polyp extension. I do have a lot of vermetid snails in the tank. Do you think this might be the cause of this? Thanks

Yes vermetid snails cast mucosal feeding nets that can cause mild irritation of Acropora, what you are describing would make perfect sense.

Don’t mean to resurrect this, but having identical issue with tissues and also tube shaped polyps exactly like on your pic, did you ever figure this out? Sorry I know it’s been years
