A friend gave me a few sticks of SPS. However, they've partially died. Meaning it's still some life on the sticks.
Should I cut the dead parts off or just leave it alone and see of the rest survive?
I post some pics.

Looks like RTN to me. Most likely your parameters were not correct or stable enough to support acropora. Could also be from low flow, lighting etc.. but those pieces have a slim chance of pulling through, sorry to say.

Sorry about the loss. But I would say you have a very low chance of keeping that one in the back alive. You can leave it as it or even try to frag a piece off. At this point, you can’t make it necessarily worse.

The way it rtn’d, it would be very hard to even salvage a piece off of it. Even if you were able to salvage a piece, you would have to figure out what’s wrong with your parameters to begin with.

If your sps were freshly cut and literally placed into your tank, that can definitely be one reason it rtn’d. Fresh cuts are really hard to succeed with unless you have very stable parameters.

Best of luck!

They've been at that point for a few days now. It's like they're trying to hold on.

Yeah I have one sps that rtn’d just like that right when I got it. I just left it. Been months and now it started to finally grow but in general I think the chances are really low. I say go with whatever your gut says!
