So i picked up some zoa colonies and mushroom frags last week. One of the mushroom frags was on what looked to be a piece of sps skeleton.

today, lights came on and low and behold approx 25-30mm of the end of the "skeleton" has visible polyps!!!

I know that the shrooms will overgrow it and steal its light etc so would I be better to remove the shrooms and put them elsewhere or better to brak off the sps and relocate the piece that is alive please?

Seller has responded and said it is very likely a montipora digi which is good I guess as they seem to be, from reading up a little, on the more forgiving scale where SPS are concerned.

Am unable to get a decent pic of the part with polyps and have literally 0 experience with SPS species.

Any help and advice much appreciated please xx

I would clip off the end that's alive and mount it to a frag plug. You may kill the mushroom in the process of trying to remove it.
