This acro hasn't done well since I added it to my tank back in July. Just this past week the tips have really receded. I think it is a pest because some of my other acros have been receding at the base. Any thoughts?

How you measure your Phosphate and nitrate? How long you have this in your tank (I think not that long as the base has not encrusted yet)?

I have a few dos whose bases seem to be slowly dying. My millipora has encrusted nicely and a few others have encrusted. I did run fallow for3 months and found that the SPS did not grow during this period at all.

I dont know about Salifert PO4 kit but if possible try to test your water for phosphate by Hanna. I heard there can be pest on your acro which can cause this so if possible try to do a dip in CoralRx.

My little knowledge says maybe a bacterial decease.
I had this two years ago in my tank but instead of trying to figure out to get my tank back up I empty the tank and started all over.
About 50% of my corals survived while they were in the frag tanks.
As of today I still didn't know why this happened even during this and after this talking to many Acro nuts still no clue.
Your # look all of besides your Po4 but that shouldn't be the cause of this.
I know a Triton test will tell you much more as maybe you have some kind of metal in your water from a pump or magnet or who knows.
Stray voltage can be a cause too.
Bad bucket of salt.
Bad two part mix.
All this you need to figure out as it can be anything on the moment.

Isn't tips burnt of sps caused by alk swings? Recession at base of sps stn? I use a Hanna digital checker for phosphates and I am very pleased with it.
