So you're using nylon socks? Like the weave of media bags? I'm thinking to do the same for the same reason. But I have to use a bag because my drains make way too many bubbles. Too clean water is why I previously couldn't support acros and it's getting that way again. That's a gorgeous acro! Looks like some sort of Tenius.

Thanks! Yes went to the nylon filter socks. They seem to catch particulates but do see more detritus in the sump versus running the felt filter socks. Corals are slowly coloring up and things are turning around.

Im not too sure what the problem was Aleks. I elevated my nutrient level at the same time took the Marine Pure out. So was it the Marine Pure?....Maybe but I would definitely say that extremely low levels of nutrients in the water was a contributing factor.

Well Paul to be honest I hated to see it go. The idea and construction of the block is ingenious and it did exactly what it was intended to do. Does the media release Aluminum though? I don't know the answer to that but felt I should remove it just incase. I was down to a couple guesses to what may have caused my corals to react the way they did. When I removed it it wasn't clogged at all nor was it nasty.

Unless someone can find out if it does release aluminum and if so in what form and is it in high levels that irritate SPS and LPS corals.

No and my gut tells me that they would say the contrary. It may be worth a shot though.
