As I started staining my stand I started wondering what I need to do to the inside to possibly combat moisture build up from my first ever dump. Anyone have any advice?

Is there anything I need to do to prep the wood on the inside so the clear will adhere? This is my first time EVER staining wood. Noob question: I only need to stain the outside, correct? Lol.

I used a marine grade white paint on the inside of my stand got a small can at Lowes makes the inside brighter so I can see stuff better than if stained dark like the outside of the cabinet plus it is waterproof so don't have to worry about moisture (just incase) it does take longer to dry several days until not tacky

I used a few liberal coats of sparthane (it's an outdoor poly) and it's held up great after two years now. I actually used it on the outside too, just applied it a bit nicer. Marine varnish is even better but more expensive.

The best is a couple coats of marine spar varnish. You will not regret it. Good stuff. If the grain on the wood is oak or another porous material I would put at least 3 coats to seal the grain. Polyurethane would be your best bet on the outside. It will not have the high sheen like the marine spar. Good luck and sand with 220 between coats
