It was made for a 45 gallon cube. Inside dimensions are 20"x 20" .

The sump is going to be a custom glass sump with the same dimensions. Off hand I believe that a 20 gallon long is 36", that being the case you should be able to use it as a sump on your 40 gallon breeder build.

Looks great. I'd have to buy the pocket hole jig :O
The 20 longs are 30"

I'm thinking the 2x4 frame would work. I'll have to mess with some sketchups again :O

Thanks for the pictures.
Now the pics of the inner structure is of the stand with the ledge? There is no other support directly under the tank itself?

Under the tank are two cross braces. one on each side, right at the spot where the edge of the tank is located.

Okay so I could do a frame like your 45 cube, along with 2x4's directly under where the tank will be? Along with 3/4" plywood on the sides and bottom and top, the top resting on the sides.

yes you can , however you don't need the 3/4" plywood on the sides. you can save money by using 1/2" on the sides.

Yey!! Saving money!! But the top still needs the 3/4". Hopefully there is a piece just the right size. Or maybe I'll make some closet shelving for the girlfriend hahaha.
