Hello all.
Currently building a new system. I am in the process of building a new stand.
Bottom is 3/4 plywood. Sides are furniture panel and 3/4 plywood. Cross members are 1x6. Doubled up

my question is. I want to make it look more like furniture. So I want to add feet 6 of them.
stwnd has a built in controller cabinet.

Ok sounds good. It will concentrate the weight to the feet at the floor.

If you are going to use a Spar Varnish, the Mineax Helmsman is awful to work with. It’s so thin it is impossible not to have runs. Almost like it was mixed for spraying. The Rust Oleum Topside Paint is easy to work with. If you are going for no brush marks, That’s Four Coats, 220 first coat sanding. Second and Third Coats, 320 sanding. 0000 Steel Wool and Johnson Paste wax, to smooth out on final coat.

To get the Maximum square inch support, make your own Triangle legs, for the Four Corners and a matching straight pair for the middle support.

I have kilz for the inside. 2 coats going in there. For the outside I have a exterior paint. Going to do 2 coats of that as well.

I found that Exterior Latex Paint doesn’t handle Saltwater very well. Ends up streaking and eroding. That’s why I’m using a Topside Paint. One of the problems with Rustoleum is they say to use a Primer Coat of Spar first, on bare wood. Couldn’t find Rustoleum Spar on the Shelf, special order of four quarts only. Krylon Fusion Satin Paint on the Exterior, after the Topside has dried for 48 hours.

I think your legs are fine. Just a suggestion Cover and seal the bottom with plexiglass. I used oil based paint myself had left over for years. Don't think it matters all that much what you use. Lots of sealers available though which would be my choice. Look up Lee Valley don't know if available to you but have countless products which could be

So today begins the final stages in the build. Today will be about plumbing. I want to take my time with this. And really make sure everything is perfect.
Last picture is me thinking about moving the tank to the other wall and move the tv in the corner.

It’s good to get everything in order before starting. ** don’t mind the messy bed.
In the box there are various hydros cables. And such. Needs to be taken out and organized.
Yes I am hard plumbing the drains and soft on the returns. The returns will be replaced at a later date.

I just finished just finished my set up about a week ago, I used furniture chalk paint and It came out amazing, also consider some barn doors they would look good on the stand you built, the ones I have don't open up that much as you can see but you can just lift them off the track and they come right off.

That is a great looking stand. I thought long and hard about doors. However. I really wanted to show off the sump. Lol

Here is where I am when I had to leave for work. Tank has water. And rock work is started. Might move a few pieces around. ( sump is dry because I had to mix more salt ). However. Hydros is up and running. And collective is active. And everything that is in place so far is working as it should.
Next Tuesday I am going to finish filling up the tank and sump. And kick on the return pump.
Right now I have the ice caps going to move the water around.
