I recently picked up this stand second hand. It holds a 4' tank and has approximately 6" overhang on all sides.

How would you build a door or doors to cover the sump?

You could just buy premade doors at Home Depot or just make a curtain or thin wood with magnets or hand craft it depending on level of skills and the tools you have
I could probably build something I just get confused with the various types of hinges. Have you seen any decent builds with a stand like mine?

No I built the stand myself, But you could just google search dyi barn doors and just make them to size to fit. Super easy to make, and the hardware I got on amazon

It also makes for easy access for maintenance, since they lift off the track and everything is wideopen

My 80g 48x24x16 stand was left open. I was going to hang panels with magnets but I now prefer it open.

You could do an smoked acrylic
panel held on with magnets. With the way the stand is made doors will get in the way, unless you can remove them, when working in the sump.
