I'll be having a steel stand fabricated for my future 210 gallon, but will be putting a 110 on it in the meantime. But would like some imput.

Most people suggest a 30 inch stand, which with the dimensions of the 210 (72.5x24.5x29.6), puts the top of the tank at 5ft even, just about shoulder height for me. Seems to me like that might make tank maintenance a bit of a pain. After taking some measurements, think I might go for a 20-25 inch stand of, 3/16 mild steel 2" square tube. This should give a comfortable height for viewing and maintenance, and I could fit my current 55 gallon below for a sump or QT tank. Paint with a quality rust proofing paint, and a top made of stainless steel or acrylic.

Any ideas on leveling the stand? Shims, adjustable feet on the stand? I know my floor is far from even, and the stand will be sitting on concrete.

The stand for my 210 is 42" floor to the top of the granite. Yes, I have stand on a stool to work in the tank. I'm 6'1 and can just barely touch the bottom right next to the glass by just reaching my arm in. If you're being honest about reaching everything in a 30" tall tank, you really need to be ~waist height at the top of tank to be able to reach everything. I really like the extra space I get in the sump from having a tall stand with no center brace.

I’m building a 40” high stand for my 300. It gives eye-level and I’ll have a step ladder for maintenance when I need it.

When I built my stand, I subtracted the height of my tank plus 2" from the height off the floor to my armpit and built the stand that tall. That inadvertently put the tank at eye level when I'm in my recliner.

That seems like a pretty good measurement to go by. Gives a stand height of roughly 24", nice and rounded, right about where I was thinking. Good height to view the tank from sitting, which I typically do anyways.

Welded steel stand for my 120. 36" high for viewing and plenty of space under the stand for easy access to my skimmer, carbon reactor, carx, and return pump.
I use a 3 rung ladder if I need to get into the tank.

At 24”, make sure you have enough height for your equipment underneath. Skimmers, CaRx can take up some height.

My 240 (72x30x24) will have had a 30” tall stand, I asked to increase to 36”, because the skimmer was huge, I needed to take cup off, 30” tall was a tight fit.
