My nitrates were at 100 so I did a 25 g water change on a 75 g tank. The starfish went crazy. They all came out and started squirting white stuff into the tank! Should I be worried?

I'm guessing that the water temperature of the 25 gallons did not match the tank water? Those bristle stars will have mass spawning events and one of the easiest triggers is a sudden change in water temperature.

Can I have too many? There seems to be a lot after seeing them all out of the rock.
