Starfish Help

My starfish has been dormant for months only occasionally moving for food. Today he dropped a leg and looks split, Is it a goner? I have had them drop legs before but never seen this body split. Thoughts or ideas, it all seemed to start about the same time as a Dino outbreak that has now passed. Thanks

I would say that starfish is probably dying or dead. Don't put it back in the tank, it'll rot.

It is alive, but yes that is why i removed it. I have had this for 2 and half years and was doing well till recently.

Is it possible something else damaged it?

I'm not sure that these guys go dormant. It not moving much is probably not a good sign.
