I recently acquired a couple serpent stars and had one very large brittle star and now my fish and inverts are coming up missing. I've lost all my shrimp and porcelain crabs emerald crabs, clown fish pajama cardinal and some other fish.

How large is the total length, and how large is the center disk?
What colors are they?

The green one is nicknamed green death...

We have an 8" red and an 8" purple and 5 other smaller ones.
Still have a cleaner shrimp after 2 years but we lost our fire shrimp about 6 months ago after being in the tank over a year.
Some of the other small fish that we have lost over the years I've always kind of wondered about.
But we have had most of our neon blue cleaner gobies live for 3 years.

We feed a lot of food partly to make sure the stars get some.
The red and the purple and the black-and-white Harlequin stars stay out and visible at the edge of the rocks nearly all of the time after several years of being in the tank.

Definitely a remote possibility.

Have you made any other changes to your tank? When you added the starfish did you accidentally introduce ich to your tank, or any other problems? The starfish don't necessarily have to be the problem. It could have been the water in their bag.

Did the fish show any symptoms of sickness or did they just stop showing up the next morning for breakfast one by one?

The fact that you are losing inverts as well as fish kind of points towards the starfish...
