Just put a few new coral frags in my tank which is 2 months old. Tried to get the algae off as best as possible but now I’m seeing what is bryopsis through searching the internet. Can we confirm this is correct with the pictures posted? Should I use flucanoze(believe that is what it’s called) before it becomes a big outbreak. It seems to be spreading on the rock and glass piece by piece currently. Thanks for the help and any tips

I don't think that is bryopsis. The tank looks brand new, probably just initial algae growth. You're going to see a lot more of that over the coming 6 months.

Are you running lights at all? It looks very white even for a 2 month old tank.

Yeah I’m not too sure. Pics online in its early stages suggested it to me especially since it is like rooted in the rock. Snails haven’t really touched it it seems either. Time will tell.

Yeah I do run the lights for about 10 hours a day on a penny wise AI schedule. Have a few pounds of live rock in the back of my chamber. Thought I would have more algae and diatoms by now but it hasn’t been that way yet.

Can we see a picture of your schedule? I'm not sure what a "penny wise" schedule is.Have the lights been on the full 2 months?

If you have live rock, there's a possibility that it could be bryopsis, but the fact that you have no diatoms or anything on your rock suggests to me something isn't quite right, even to grow algae. After two months your rocks should be green/brown even with just ambient lighting.

Fluconazole easily takes care of bryopsis, but it also messes with other algae. I would never consider dosing that this early in the tanks life. If it is bryopsis, you can always easily fluconazole the tank around the year mark.

It’s a preset schedule I found for the prime 16hds. Lights have been on for probably 6 weeks. Kept them off during the cycling.

The live rock didn’t come from a tank but a bin my lfs has been curing over time so the rock was clean of pests and what not. I didn’t want to dose anything to be honest. Just seemed if it was bryopsis that nothing really takes care of the issue naturally. Below is a pic of the light settings.

As far parameters go everything is solid.

Salinity 1.025
Alk 6 which is low and am trying to get to 8.
Calcium 400
Mag 1400
Nitrates 8
