Steel stand question

Do any of ya'll experienced folks or engineers know if a 2"x2" steel tube can support the full span of a 72" standard 180 gallon tank? If not, can the back of the upper frame be supported with a pillar and the font be left open with tolerable deflection? I am hoping to leave the front of my new build's stand as open as possible. Thanks in advance.

I'm not an expert or an engineer, just a welder. Knowing the wall thickness would help(1/8,1/4). I'm not sure how long mild steel would last either.

Looked at your build thread... as it turns out, I have the same tank and sump on order. Picking up the stand and tank next week and the used sump is taking a vinegar bath.

I really like the tank, other than the weight. It took at least 5yrs off of my life lifting it. :-)

I've seen 2x2 stands with open fronts, using a 2x4 upper rail. Might still need one vertical center support however. I have a 2x2 1/8" Guage frame under a five foot display. Pics in my build thread.
