Hey all,

I have two Ecotech Marine Vortech mp 10's that had been accumulating a sticky film on the dry side. It looks nasty and makes your vortech look really old. It got into my head that I need to clean that and the first thing I tried worked out. I used alcohol 70% and a towel to remove the sticky film, you need to apply some pressure to remove it, but just be careful not to be too hard on the dry side or it might lose the painting.

I am not sure if it might work on other models but for me, it worked. :)

Whoa, looks great. How long have you had them? I feel like you removed the stock rubberized coating that came on the mp10's from the factory. This is what gives the dry side grip and texture. Idk if that was intentional but wanting to ask for clarity in case others do this. Looks like that texture deteriorated or got really hot and melted?

I've had them for 2.5 years. To be honest there's no more rubberized coating and I don't have a brand new one to compare it to. I don't think that it could be due to temperature issues as they ran below 50% and they're located in an open area so if it's "normal" deterioration Ecotech should be looking at the kind of coating they're giving to their expensive products. After the cleaning process, there's no rubber, just pure and shiny aluminum if that's the material they're using on it.

Yes others are like this.

In case anyone, like me, saved some pumps from 2014 - I used isopropyl alcohol to rub down the dry side. It was a sticky mess, but it came right off in about 10 minutes. Worth it!
