Stimulus check/fraud

If youre expecting a stimulus check from the govt and you recieve a debit card with your name on it and instructions on how to activate, (which is common knowledge this is the method of distribution for this "round of stimulus) i wouldnt hesitate to verify information to recieve funds.....

I believe he did call the issuing customer services number.

My dad gets freaked out when he has to verify any personal info for anything too. Dont feel too bad. Its your livelyhood not anyone elses.

Be careful! I worked for several years at an online payroll/HR company and the sophistication of the scams we dealt with is incredible. They will go to any length to get a tiny piece of information, especially when they already have acquired other pieces from other sources.

Generally speaking no one ever asks for 6 digits to identify you, it’s the last 4 that are unique enough along with alternate questions like zip code and date of birth. Someone having 6 of the 9 digits and the right software will get the other 3.

I am always wary of scams since I have been a victim of ID theft.

So we got our card in the mail, and my wife was on the phone with the IRS and they stated that we needed to give them the last 6 digits of our SS number and she gave me the phone and I hung up on them, does this seem correct? Last 6 never heard of that? Seems like a pretty fancy rouse.

My daughter got card and needed the last 6 for verification.

This makes me want to start a thread and just talk about how someone tried scamming you.

I have two fake names(did this while I was in school because I thought it was funny...)

First name is David Hen, second is Elliot Gates. Whenever I get a phone call and they ask for them, I just laugh and screw with them at that point.haha

Seriously, who doesn’t love messing with scammers?

Imagine walking into a well known pizza place to pick up an order to go fifteen years ago and the employee saying “You look like a David”.
I had the last laugh when I changed it to Elliot the following week! Haha!
His mind was literally blown away.
I have since changed it back to David ;)

Don’t even get me on how many email accounts I have.... literally over fifty....

They always want another email after I tell them that..... suckers.
