I have a fairly well established 20 gallon tank that only has a firefish at the moment these are the additions I have planned just wanted some input on compatibility and possible issues with bio load/ space.

  • Yasha goby (this one is definitely going in already have a tiny candy cane pistol shrimp in the tank and the lfs said they would get one in for me shortly)
  • White banded/ tanaka's pygmy wrasse, not sure on the difference between these two is it just the stripe going through the eye? I also have some reservations as to whether my rock work is suitable for this guy as it's very open and it's a cryptic fish.
  • Cleaner goby
  • 2 trimma caudomaculatum
  • flame prawn goby
the last two on the list are the ones I'm least sure about and I'm least likely to get anyways as the lfs isn't certain they can even get them in to begin with. I do a five gallon water change weekly and run a protein skimmer for nutrient removal and I have a picture of the tank below for opinion on rock work for the pygmy wrasse.

IMHO that's too many Gobies and that tank is suited for about 4 fish max. Go with the Wrasse, the Yasha and then look at something like a clown goby (it's a different type than the Yasha).

Not harping. Serious question but are you a new reefer?

Sorry my first post wasn't very clear, I'm only expecting to put four fish in (five if I went with the trimmas since they never get over an inch). Just asking if a combination of fish from my list would work or if anyone had a suggestion that would work better than what I have listed. To answer your question this is my first tank in about 10 years so trying to do my due diligence before making decisions.

Is the cleaner goby not a different type than the yasha? I know gobies have interspecies aggression but I didn't think they were aggressive past that.

Any opinions on the rock work being suitable for the pygmy wrasse?
