I currently have a 55 gallon reef tank w no sump yet. It seems I might get a sump going by the end of Feb or mid march. Planning on a 30 gallon sump. Anyways my current stock of fish is as follows
2 clowns decently small
1 green chromis
1 diamond goby
1 Midas blenny
1 4 stripe damsel
1 melanurus wrasse

I would like to add a marine betta, purple dottyback, and possibly a few banggai cardinals and a small flasher wrasse, or possibly a Mandarin...
That seems like where I want to be.

I really wanted a tang but I feel my tank would be too small for them to be happy so I'll have to wait for an upgrade.

Any help and advice is greatly appreciated!
Happy reefing!

Hey thanks, this is an old pic too, there's more coral and a lot got moved around, and not all the fish I listed are in this pic.I'll post a better one here for you later tonight. What kind of tank do you have? / pics?

Help is needed though, we're going to be ordering a fish and some crabs this weekend. I've read numerous threads about how many fish is ok to have in your tank, but everyone has something different to say

Beautiful tank! As far as your stock, honestly I think you are already well stocked for a 55. Given your current stocklist, the only two fish on your list I would even consider would be an Orchid Dottyback and a Flasher Wrasse (assuming your tank is 100% covered, hopefully by 1/4" mesh). Otherwise, I am inclined to say leave your tank as is and let it mature!

Thanks for the input Marshall! I'll be ordering the purple dottyback this weekend, but I'll be waiting a bit longer on the wrasse. I was afraid I had a bit much :( after I get those two then I guess I'll be waiting maybe a year or so till I can upgrade the tank :/ I really want the marine betta guess I have to wait :(

I hear you. I was in the same boat a few months ago, with a fully stocked 55. Now I have upgraded to a 125, which is also almost fully stocked already!

Scary, thankfully I'm broke and taking things reluctantly slow... I had all the money and was almost ready to order the stuff I needed for a sump setup, aaand then It was gone, now I'm looking at months out... But lately, and especially after today, I keep thinking about upgrading, I guess for now get the sump going, add a few more corals, and let it grow for a while till I can upgrade.
