Snow has me stuck at home staring at my 200g 6-ft tank, trying to decide what to add next. Mostly just looking to hear some opinions and get a little discussion going.

Right now I’ve got:

  • 4 clowns (2 orange, 2 black & white)
  • Flame angel
  • Melanurus wrasse
  • 2 Lubbock’s wrasse
  • 2 Carpenter’s wrasse
  • 2 Debelius wrasse
I’m planning on adding a few tangs:

  • Orangefin Tomini
  • Yellow-eye Kole
  • Yellow tang
  • Purple tang
I’m also kicking around the idea of a mandarin and a watchman goby. I feel like I still have some room since none of my current fish will get huge, and the tangs I’m looking at are on the smaller side compared to others.

What else would you throw in? Mainly looking for fish that add good movement and activity

I'm in the planning stages for a 180g, but I know I want a set of J. swallowtail angels. Not too big, very active, and regarded as reef safe. I also loved having a foxface in my 75g before it busted a seam.

How has keeping 2 sets of clowns worked out so far? I love clowns but I've always heard keeping more than 2 always ends badly regardless of tank size.

They do fine, sometimes they break out into there respected pairs on each end, sometimes they are all together or sometimes it’s 1-3. They don’t fight at all and mingle well, I have had them about a year now.

Thought about adding a coral beauty to give me some blue, the flame has been in for about 3 weeks. You think they will get along?

I don't have personal experience with those 2 together, but I know plenty of people that keep both without problems. Years ago I had a CB in a biocube with two tomato clowns and a damsel and everyone got along great. Gorgeous fish, mine was very blue with a hint of orange.

I think it will be okay, I’ll make sure the coral beauty is slightly larger to avoid aggression from the flame.

Here are the clowns
