So now that my tank is cycled I am gearing up for the aquatic life. My build thread is located here.

Short story it's a Mr. Aqua 12g long (36 x 8 x 10) with 20 lbs of rock.

What I'm looking for is 2-3 peaceful inhabitants to go along with any soft corals I put in the tank (currently a couple of small Zoa colonies and now a Duncan) and one that could stir the sand (if possible).

I'm not really into clowns, prefer firefish, gobies and shrimp.

Would there be any issues with stocking with something like a Hector's goby, a firefish and a cleaner shrimp?

That stocking will be fine.

Those options are good for a nano. One of the things I like about my nano is that I can stock with small critters that are likely to be "lost" in a big tank. Like Pederson's anemone shrimp, sexy shrimp, porcelain crabs... My nano is right next to my desk so I can watch it from up close all day long. I love watching my Pederson's shrimp - they're very interesting.

There's no issues with mixing gobies in the tank? Or is the issues with firefish due to mixing different species of firefish as opposed to other goby species?

Yup, Firefish (and dartfish in general) are the biggest chickens in the aquarium industry. A small blenny (ie tailspot) might work.
