Stopping the PM and alert spam

Hello,

I like the forum but I find the alert spam from the forum promoting stuff, as well as the PM's about various offers very annoying.

Is there a way to stop this? Everyday I'm getting alerts about the topic of the day or whatever and every few days promotional PM's about stuff I really don't care about.

It's very annoying, can I turn it off?

Yes you can turn them off it’s in the area where you can join the various reefing clubs.

Yeah it’s in a spot one would not think to look. I took me a long time! The ad banners and posts are one thing…. Those pms, ugh!

Could someone please give some details on where to find the options to turn off the spam PMs? This constant influx of junk mail is preventing me from seeing legitimate messages.
