Has anything been changed in the tank recently? Have any of your parameters changed significantly in the last few days?

Nothing has changed other than me adding a threadfin butterfly. I doubt its the fish that has anything to do with it.

Bleached as in the color has lightened up? or is the tissue actually gone? It would help to see a photo of the coral.

That's in pretty bad shape. Looks like there may be some hints of color left though.. How old is your system? N&P are borderline too low. Flow/Lighting may have also played a part.

Tank is almost a year old. Ive been struggling in trying to keep my nitrates up. i ordered more fish to try and bring this up. I had gfo running in the tank for about two weeks and had turned it off now for about one week. Flow is on par to what is recommended for these, lighting can actually be it, but ive been growing and reviving other sps with these lights, so im not sure what it can be. IF anything ill just have to order two new lights like a kessil or radeons.

If nothing has changed, no swings.. I would look towards lighting, and N and P levels. Also FYI, Threadfin butterflies are not very SPS safe fish, probably one of the worst polyp pickers I've owned.

Ill look into putting the threadfin in my other tank, as for lighting ill have to order some when BRS has them in stock again. :(:(:(:(

whats an effective way of increasing N and P?

Feed the fish, get reef safe algae grazer(s). For the record , sps sometimes just die without provocation

Had the same happened to me ....... what I found?
I added chemicals I perhaps should have not (Temptation) and added new lights right after, so could be both and also increased flow destroying that rule of Stability !! In essence, I tuned up a car that was already running good and lesson learned.
