My wall tank needs some algae clips, and a magnetic scraper as the acrylic mag float I have can’t be controlled well. I can’t decide if the magnet is too strong or too weak, as the guy that owned the tank before me used it. Acrylic is 1.25 inches thick on the front panel I believe.

I need some strong algae clip ideas for this thing!

I would avoid putting an algae clip on the front if acrylic. I use the mega mag, and it works ok with 1” with a little bolstering; but I only use it on the end panel figuring it would scratch the acrylic ..... and it did.

I wouldn’t put the algae clip on the front.

I’m confused about the acrylic scratching, I don’t want that! Lol

Check out mightymagnets for a algae scraper . They are pricey but do work on acrylic for everything but coraline IME.

I use this scraper: http://mightymagnets.com/
It is very pricey. I did get the attachments for the tough algae and the corralline. It works wonders. My acrylic is I think 3/4". You may have to get the next step up for the 1.5". Well worth it if you ask me.
Not for algae clips obviously, but they are great at cleaning. So far I have used just the pad and works for that every day or so cleaning. However, if you leave it to once a week and some tougher algae builds up, I use the Algae Cutter Bag attachment. It is great. I touch up my corners with magic eraser and tank looks new. Super great. Should be for the price.

+1 for mighty magnets. Works great with acrylic too. For 1 1/2 inch I’d recommend the F8 over the F6.

I purchased a mighty magnet. Wow they are expensive but there’s a lot of people recommended them. Thanks everyone!

Did you get the algae bag to cut through the tough stuff? It is almost what I use over the magnet each time. Super great on acrylic. You do need to wash it after each use though.

I did not, I am confused with what you speak?

I dose vibrant so my acrylic panel stays pretty clean but I’m intrigued! :)
