75gallon mixed reef. All other corals (softies, Duncan’s, chalice, elegance, bubble, monti, even acro) are doing fine. I lost torch, hammer, and acans. Nitrates 5-10 phosphate 0.05-0.15 calcium 475 mag 1275 alk 7.8 -8.2 salinity 1.024 plenty of flow 2 ai hydra 26 lights.

I am at a loss for why I am struggling with the torch’s and acans.

My guess is the struggle is related to the "mixed reef" aspect of your approach. Acro's and (eg) bubble coral do not share many ideals, so you're gonna struggle with some corals when you "force them" together. "Mixed reef" is actually very complex and IMO maybe a bit overrated.

Your numbers look OK.

Seems like plenty of light, doubt it's too much.

"Plenty of flow" is subjective, of course...to the corals. However they care about fps, not gph. Can your flow tumble the occasional small sand grain? Flake food should be able to stay adrift in the flow quite a while.

I agree photos would help.

Mag at 1275 is low, I'd definitely try to bring that up. I see your salinity is 1.024, not super low, but lower. Trying bringing that up a bit as well. The two should come up together so be careful not to overdose Mag.

Anytime my Mag gets down below 1300 many of my LPS corals start to show signs of un-happyness.

How did you lose them?
did they not thrive and 'fade' away?
Rapid or slow tissue necrosis?
Brown jelly disease?
are you supplementing with amino acids or carbon dosing?

Thanks! I have found IME with my LPS that a Mg of 1400-1440 is where they are happiest. Raise it slowly and watch your Cal/Alk because they also tend to go up with that, although I think your Alk is on the lower end as well. Your salinity is at the bottom of what we like to see but still good so watch that it doesn’t drop. Otherwise, I think your tank looks good!

They slowly faded over 2-3 weeks after adding to tank. No sign of brown jelly. They were dipped in iodine. I dose using all for ree MF and Red Sea ab+. Thinking of switching to Red Sea coral reef pro salt with higher alk and mag.
