You'll find that "some" reefers think that these clowns should be disposed of. I say if it looks happy and is healthy then we should find them homes and let people love them like you do! Congrats!

it is a birth defect or a result of inbreeding.
if it is healthy and happy great but be prepared to keep them by themselves because it cant get away if it is getting picked on. I would have it in its own little tank!

I had a pair of stubby clowns in a tank with all other fish and they were fine! :)

I feel so bad that people see them as disposable :( they're so cute, If I were you I'd put them in their own tank or one with somthing like seahorses

He pretty much is. He's in my 20 with a purple fire goby and a royal gramma. Pretty low key tank. His spine has actually begun to straighten out since I got him a few months ago. (And obviously I know it's a birth defect that's why the supplier refunded the LFS) regardless he's a very happy and healthy little fish he always greets me when I walk buy. He's very special and definitely one of my favorites

I just showed him to my boyfriend and he said that the little fish may have had a calcium deficiency from birth and maybe you saving him did just the trick :) Just some food for thought!

You could be on to something about the deficiency. I know the stubbys are technically deformed because they are missing a vertebra and his spine may have bent in the spot where the vertebra is missing. I just call him goofy lol. He's such a spaz even for a clown. He will literally push his whole body out of the water to greet me when I open the tank and swim from one side to the other when I walk by he's hilarious
