Ugh. I put two firefish in my tank yesterday and my six line is really aggressive toward them. I would like to get him out. Any ideas?

Bottle trap works good. There are videos on YouTube. Some people use a tiny barb bless fish hook but you can catch the wrong fish very easily. The last resort is taking out rock and getting it out that way. It's very hard to get fish out that way. Ever since pulling kine apart to get 2 fish out I research my fish choices better it's a pain

They "can" be peaceful but the peaceful ones seem to be the minority. Most LFS will rent traps otherwise you can just build your own. I built an acrylic trap that has caught me a few fish without much of a battle.

Nice. Ya he was always fine with all my other fish. I have a yellow watchman goby, two clowns and a cardinal. Never saw him even chase them. But when I put the fire fish in he wouldn't leave them alone. I kinda wanted to get him out anyway cause I want a cooler wrasse.

Ya I always thought the six lines were peaceful.

They are peaceful until they grow up. :xd: Sometimes you get lucky and wind up with a peaceful adult. But that's more the exception than the rule.

Ya I always thought the six lines were peaceful.

you have about a 30-40% chance of getting a peaceful one. I wasn't one of the lucky ones and had a bully. I borrowed a fish trap from a local LFS and hid across the room with the string in my hand and waited for him to go into the baited trap. It took me a couple days, they're smart and need to get used to the trap. My 6 line really ruined my tank time by chasing others around. It was hard to relax and enjoy what's to be a peaceful experience when there's a bully chasing around others. it's so much more peaceful now without him.

Maybe a flasher wrasse? I don't have any first hand experience but my research indicated they are peaceful. I just got my first (and probably only) one today. A McCosker's Flasher Wrasse from liveaquaria. Very beautiful.
Good luck with whatever you choose.

I just want one that actually benefits the aquarium. Like eats bugs...

In that case I will refrain from commenting and let the experts here provide their assistance. Still, good luck!

That's why I got the six line lol but that didn't work out to well.

I've had buddies that have had those and they say most don't do much.

Mine is awesome, but that doesn't make them all great. I think all fish are hit and miss

sixline is the best bet for bug eating.you can always try another one.alot of times they are best as the last fish added.you can always put the one you have now in the sump for a week and put him back in the tank and see if he is less aggressive

75g. What wrasse do you suggest? I love them.

Stick within the Halichoeres genus for pest control. In a 75 gallon, I wound't hesitate to add a Melanurus (I was afraid you had something like a 40 gallon). Radiant Wrasse (H. iridis) is another of my favorites. Plenty of others to chose from as well. You could also do a Possum Wrasse. They hunt all day long. I don't know if they would do anything for pests, but they are neat little Wrasses.
