This thread feels like one of that Discovery episodes where you know it's not gonna end well for that young gazelle. However, I will still be sad to hear of misfortune to out dear Mantis shrimp. Hope he makes it.

It's funny how freaked out I'd feel if this creature lived in my reef tank. :eek: Yet as a recreational Northeast striped bass fisherman, I have no problem handling big sand worms, which look very similar, and hooking them to use as striper bait... and I've been bitten by their sharp pincers too!

That's what I thought when I saw it. Looks like a big sand worm, but I'm a plug guy so no handling sand worms.

Im 90% sure he is eating my Kenya Trees. They have suddenly developed clear-cut tops with no branches. Looks like somebody cut them with scissors

So its possible that this is unrelated. But tonight my fuge drain became loud. I reached in to clear what i thought was Rouge caulerpa again and found these. Slighly heavier than water easily agitated. And texture of a bean. Im thinking eunice poop. The only thing in there big enough to drop these is him or the mantis. Thoughts?

Dude, I was totally thinking I was looking at the critter wrapped around your thumb. I have no idea about the poop. My Eunice's poop didn't look like that and I don't know if I ever saw mantis poop.
