Hello- I am in the market for a new lights for our standard 29g- mostly LPS and a Montipora.
The so called black boxes are decent but I do not want the hanging kits, if they only comes with mounting legs I will give it a shot.

What I have in mind:
  • Orbit Pro
  • Ocean Revive
  • SB reef
  • Ebay fixture (attached)

Any other suggestions without breaking the bank? Thank you.

T5 or halide are only inexpensive up front.

Most LED's offer an on-tank mounting option, whether it's legs like the light you linked, or an arm like you might see on a Prime or Kessil.

Orbit Pro would probably be my pick of your list, but any of the top three would work!!

Go ocean revive. I love mine. The one you have pictured looks like an odyssea. If it is, stay away. Poor lighting.

I like the Orbit Pro but I am seeing Reefers end up selling and getting another led. So Not sure yet on Pro.

Ocean Revive are nice but can't ramp up/down

That's correct. No ramping feature. It does have 2 channel timer.

the new pro's are better. actually high light capable. prob 500+par at 6in The old ones "pro controller" (be careful on that one) are ok for a shallow tank. 200 or so par at 6in

Are there any t5/led combo that are readily for purchase?
yea but whats your budget.
I wont post links unless your sitting down...and on meds.....

Personally I prefer a wide coverage. t5 mh style. thats more important to me, Id need too many AI to to that. GREAT light though.
I just bought a maxspec:eek: on ebay for not too much for my 30g cube, I hope it has the coverage I want.
shopping for something for my 48" long 55. and oy. $$$$$ I need meds and to sit down now.

the SB's are my first choice(spectrum, intensity wide led array $$ and Mike at sb is here on the board cool guy) to try but 32in doesnt give me the coverage for the 55 Im kinda sure. (dang:mad:) you can boil water with that one too and not the wallet.
the arctic 247? looks good too. fourth choice for me.

if you diy the orbit and t5 retrofit wasn't hard. Its whats in my 55 canopy right now.:)

I've read good reviews on Ai and for my size tank w/c is 30" I will be needing two and almost the same $$ as the SB and Orbit Pro.
yup. Thats where im stuck on the 48in 55g.
Checkout the maxspect 420r 120w, just for fun. Got mine on ebay for $200 used no hardware. probably total overkill for a tank your size. Thank goodness for dimmers.:D

Yes I would suggest 2 , and I can def attest to there OP ness but for the 500 bills its very worth it and you can spread your light like you like not the double puck limitation
