Hi
Can I get advice/info of what best to put in the sump as in media, rocks etc..

First chamber Red Sea 1200, do I put anything else in with it or is it best to keep it empty ( basket on reef mat will have carbon in it )

Second chamber will be Red Sea skimmer
, again on its own?

3rd will be refugium, so got some live rocks from my old tank and was thinking miracle mud in trays so I can change out when required and cheato.

4th chamber pump so was keeping that empty

5th separate RO so seperate and obviously empty…

Any pics of yours would be appreciated

First time sump…

Cheers

Biggest things to consider are the skimmer chamber needs to have baffles that will ensure the water level remains constant. Bubble traps are also recommended.

I use Seachem Matrix for a media in my sump. For 300g it recommends like 750ml of the Matrix, I have about 3l in there.
Available at most pet stores, amazon etc.

It looks like white pumice, super porous so there is tons of area for bacteria to grow.
