Sump aeration

Just to clarify — I don’t (and didn’t) have a DO probe or a PM3 module on my Apex, so I can’t provide hard data on dissolved oxygen levels.

I do have dissolved oxygen meters. Air stones will achieve the same dissolved oxygen levels as powerheads while using 7X less power.

Aeration of saltwater tank is best achieved by means of powerheads preferably making turbulent flow and sump/display tank return and also protein skimmer.
Freshwater aquarists use air stones primarily because they cannot have such a high flow as in marine aquarium. Using air stones in reef tank is not the most efficient method to oxygenate water.

Where can I get my hands on that data?

Very interested to read the studies.

I have an Oxydator W in my sump near my return pump plus a gyre and MP40 in the DT. My oxygen levels are always at optimum saturation and I have no worries about salt creep. Oxydators are cheap, cheap to run and easy to set going. Been running Oxydators for over 40 years in numerous reef tanks and wouldn't run a tank without one.

There isn't much to look at in truth. There are 5 models. The one on the left on mt photo is for ponds. The one on the right will do from around 100 gallon to around 300 gallon aquarium depending on % concentration of peroxide and number of catalysts used.
Other models are smaller. The model A up to 100 gallon the model D up to around 50 gallon and the mini for up to around 20 gallons. Lots of information on Oxydator's both on here, on the bet and in the Oxydator user group on Facebook.

tbh....I don't think they did.....and I will be buying one anyway. I have already asked my family in Nottingham to be ready for a parcel as I will be there soon anyway and will take back with me as I want the A model (unable to find in US)......

You can measure the results both visually and by using a redox meter or oxygen test kit.

Thank you for sharing! This may be something that others can benefit from, as it appears to have numerous positive benefits, works passively, and has few downsides. Unfortunately, it is not something I can easily procure; nevertheless, I am interested in conducting further research. I think this might benefit the OPer as well! So thanks again @atoll !

I added aeration to the sump and did air the house out today and the tank is up from 8.04 to 8.21. So far so good, I will continue to watch it.

They don't seem interested in promoting their products outside Europe anyway. They don't answer emails and seem content with their volumes of sales.
The UK distributor gave up on them as supply was very erratic and slow in fact the distributor left the industry all together.

Today is the following day and I did a water change. I will say it went up some with the water change but it is sitting firm at 8.21. Did a change and water test, I'm about tk add some coral to see if I can level out some other numbers now . My alk and mag is perfext but my calcium is high but I have 0 coral until right now

Update. To much aeration created some serious wackiness to the skimmer. So I reduced the amount by 50 percent to see if this helps

Today I got a PM on a UK reefkeeping forum telling me of his success using an Oxydator to help fight off an outbreak of white spot. I asked him to post a thread on his experience which he has done.
I have reproduced it here for anybody interested.

Now, nobody is claiming an Oxydator will cure itch however, it is a great aid in helping the fish fight it off providing the fish is eating and not overly infected.
