I do have dissolved oxygen meters. Air stones will achieve the same dissolved oxygen levels as powerheads while using 7X less power.

Danggit already. I am covetting your DO meter.

We had them at work but I was too lazy to calibrate them and now I retired, so I don't have one. But Xmas is coming, do I really need one?

I have an Oxydator W in my sump near my return pump plus a gyre and MP40 in the DT. My oxygen levels are always at optimum saturation and I have no worries about salt creep. Oxydators are cheap, cheap to run and easy to set going. Been running Oxydators for over 40 years in numerous reef tanks and wouldn't run a tank without one.

I have one but have been too lazy to set it up. I gave another one to my buddy who does cichlids, but I haven't gone crazy with the reef.

The reef is in the garage, where the water heater is. I usually open a solid door with a locked security screen to allow fresh air exchange and My Hanna pH meter always reads 8.6(flashing) which tells me the meter is overwhelmed (or out of whack) based upon the pH readings I get normally.

We had a rare storm front pass through last week and I shut the solid door overnight and in the morning I pulled out the Hanna and got pH 8.3 in the closed garage scenario. I opened the door and a few hours later I retested and I was back out of range. The natural gas water heater is properly vented but the spare CO2 in the closed garage will clearly lower pH if I shut the solid door instead of just having the screen door breathing.
