Sump baffles diy

So, I was just wondering if I need to silicone the bottoms of my diy sump baffles? The sides are glued, but my dad thinks the water levels all may be the same if water gets through the bottom. I’m talking about right here:

There’s no gap between glass and sump bottom, and just want my tank filled lol

If there is any room for water to transit between sections, your dad is right. I'd go ahead and do it now so you don't have to do it once there's water in there. Better safe than sorry IMO.

Its fine on that divider. No glue needed on the bottom.
There is no cascading effect and both sump chambers will be @ the same water level due to the slits mid way up your baffle.

Your bubble trap before the return pump should be glued on the bottom though. Aka the next baffle set.
One has space on the bottom on purpose so dont glue that
