Hi all, for my ~80 Gallon tank 3ft tank I am building I'm trying to squeeze:
- Reef Factory Smart Roller
- Reef Octopus Classic 110 (least priority)
- Two Varios 4 pumps
- Refugium with what's left.

Into a UNS 60U - 20 gallon - 24x14x14 - even though it is not cheap as petco half off.. it is shorter than the 20 long so leaves more room in the stand which was a priority.

I am thinking with the fleece roller, in the end, i may just go skimmer OR refugium... but for planning purposes i want to try to know that i can do both.

at any rate, i think i have just about the only orientation.. these pumps take up a lot more room .. and 14" is about 1" short of fitting them end to end at one side and do a normal left to right flowing sump. So, I have jenga'd everything in there.. but i am wondering about flow ... the arrows are what i hope happen but will there likely be tur

Of course, in real life mocking this up it feels so much tighter! :)

And then as noted in magenta. do i have the spill way in an L shape (easier to build) - or draw it out as wide as the pumps or any other ideas on the baffle/spill way? will the spill way more likely to cause noise in an L shape vs just a straight cut? I am looking for silent

Just wondering, what’s the purpose of 2 return pumps on a tank that size? Going closed loop?

At any rate, in my experience refugium and skimmer is overkill for nutrient export, you’ll probably bottom out N and P and end up having to take one offline or have to dose nutrients.

There are two tank returns, I was going to have one go through a UV before return and the other maybe have a couple manifold breakouts before going to return / redundancy. But yes it's definitely complicatating this a bit. I have only purchased the one pump so far, so I can bail out on this idea still. One thing I am all over the place about is pump GPH, head pressure charts, etc since the plumbing isn't done (waiting on stand). I have seen that while the varios are quiet (a major consideration since this is in my office), they really do not do well against head pressure.. one thread on here saying they got as little as 250 GPH actual out of one of these varios 4s through their plumbing. So saying that is worst case, then two of them would be a bit more than 5x turnover. If my plumbing is not worse case, was hoping to dial it back to less than 100%. But yeah.. I don't have tons of conviction here.

Yeah I think I will start with the fleece and some chaeto and leave the skimmer out.. one less thing making noise. I got this one used for a good deal on Craigslist so fine if it's never used. I guess I could just assume it's one or the other and that would simplify this a bit
