So I have a 120 gallon I am attempting to setup and have a 20 gallon sump I could use, would I have issues? I want to be able to have some macroalgae in the sump because I own a kessil 3 light for growth I guess my concern is maintaining enough water in the sump for that but also having enough room for the water in the case of a power outtage

Issue would be if power goes out it will definitely overflow. You can buy a bigger used tank. I'd go that route

Just grow it: Have you ever added CO2 to your reef tank?
