Sump issues

Hello, i got a new sump and pump with tubing. . Took me a while to get it down but it ran great for a little more than 24 hours. My struggle was the sump pump pumping more water into the tank than it was syphoning back in... idk what I did but it evened out eventually and then outta nowhere the it started doing it again... what is happing?

Are you using a ball valve or gate valve to regulate the flow back to your sump?

do you have any heavy electrical equipment turning on that that corresponds to the issue? Like when my chiller comes on, my pump does slow a tad.

I usually set my overflow so that the "emergency" pipe keeps a small trickle at all times that way if your return flow varies a little, no change will happen in the regulated overflow only that little bit that goes down the emergency pipe

I dont know just a syphon system, i re syphined it and now its evened out again , now the pressure going back into the sump is loud but at least im not in danger of flooding

Sounds like return is pushing to fast, slow it down.
You must only put in, as much as can come out.
Even small overages will build up over time.
Slow pump to slowest setting, then turn up a bit each time until water just starts down the overflow.

It's at its lowest setting, does what would cause the syphon power to reduce ?

Air inside?
Not sure what “syphon power” is.
Is the weir box a HOB?
Those can be a bit fussy.

once the level in your overflow box matches the level of the tank, the siphon should be neutral. looks like the level in your overflow box is lower

I've concluded my u tube got air in it. And excuse my ignorance, by syphon power I mean the force which the u tube pulls water. After restarting it's actually noisy. A lot more flow or gph are flowing into the sump

You'll need to find out what size your return line is and put it somewhere in line. Do you have a picture of your return? You'll want to put it somewhere that gives you access to adjust it.

So is your overflow "U tube" (which is actually a siphon tube) now pulling out more water than you return provides? where is the noise coming from?

Besides the sump and pump everything else is home depot. Are you talking about the line from the pump out the sump up the line into the tank?

If you need to regulate the water going into the tank you'll put the valve on the line going from the pump back to the tank. If you have room in your stand, under the tank above the sump it will be out of the way but still accessible. DO NOT restrict the water going into the pump by putting the valve before the return pump. Can you determine where the actual noise is coming from? I'm assuming it's a sucking or slurping noise?

looks like you have soft lines. If so you have to have a barbed fitting to connect it to the valve. I can send you some pics of how I set my soft lines when I get home from work
