Sump not returning to same level after return pump is turned off

I'm new to ecotech and neptune apex but not to saltwater or sumps. Having an issue where after I turn the return pump off for feeding or maintenance it's not going back to same flow rate. Its a vectra s2. Doesnt always do it. It's your typical herbie style overflow running into standard sump. It's almost like the flow on the ecotech controller is being adjusted but it hasn't changed. When I turn it off I'm just manually flipping it to off in apex fusion. Anybody know what could be happening?

How long since you cleaned your DC return? The issue with any DC return, in my opinion, is that the same power level is not a consistent flow rate depending on a lot of factors including if it is clean and how the gunk inside impacts it when starting back up. AC pumps are louder, but much more consistent and usually more reliable. Sometimes it may increase flow when starting it back up, and other times it may seem slightly slower and you may need to adjust the power level.
