Just wanted to give an update went ahead and installed a valve between the tank and sump and went with the eshopps flexhose. All is running great now just an occasional burp flush which may ne due to the bigger size hose

The flush is due to too much return water. Crank it back just a bit until it stops. If you can live with it though it doesn't hurt anything.

If the valve is on the overflow and you only have one overflow make sure it is 100% open, you never want to restrict a single overflow.
Stick a short piece of airline tubing down in the standpipe a couple inches then slowly move it up or down until the burping stops. When you get the proper water/air mixture the overflow will really take off and will be dead silent.

it usually only burbs every 5 or 10 minutes so will be a little hard to know where that adjustment is >>>

Won't be hard at all. If you don't hear it burp it's adjusted right, if you do, raise the tube 1/4" or so and go on with your business until you don't hear it anymore. Worth the effort for sure.

will do as I think the burping may be effecting the effectiveness of the skimmer due to slight jumps in water level ..
