Sump Pump filtration overflowing

Hey! I bought an aquarium off of someone who was moving and couldnt take it with them, I had no issues up until now really but where the water comes down from the tank into the filtration it is creating a TON of bubbles and overflowed causing a fire. does anyone know how to get it to stop overflowing?
