Just curious how you guys have your sump set up. My water runs through mechanical filtration, then a chamber with protein skimmer and a pump to feed uv sterilzer that runs into the Next chamber with a heap of live rock and marine pure balls, last is my return. I also keep carbon and purigen where I can fit in all chambers. Any issues or optimization I could do?

When I had one I had one chamber that held my filter socks. I used mesh socks so it stayed a little dirty in there but for the most part the mess was contained.

Also in that chamber was my skimmer, but I quickly figured out that the tank didn't need skimming because the next chamber over, the refugium, was too efficient. So I took the skimmer out and put in a media reactor that ran a mix of carbon and purigen and other stuff but I eventually took that out as well and just threw in some bags of Chemipure.

The refugium chamber had a few pieces of rubble rocks and that mostly was for my fuge monster gorilla crab to have a place to live. I started with Chaeto but that somehow got replaced by sea lettuce/ulva after a while which worked really well for nutrient management but was kinda a pain to remove or clean out.

The last chamber was my return pump chamber which also housed my heater and rainbird controller sensor.

My next sump will be roller mat compatible and have a large refugium chamber that I plan on displaying somehow.

Sounds great!
