so I’ve finally starting having success with sps in general and back in December the tank got “too clean” and had about 2 weeks of Dino’s appear before I got it under control. Since then my growth has slowed but the colors lost during the outbreak have come back. Fast forward to now, my sunburst monti keeps accumulating algae in the surface.

How do I stop this? It’s getting direct flow (no changes) good lighting, and tank parameters are stable
Alk 9.5
Calcium 410
Mag 1300
Ph ave 8.1

What can I do to correct this cap and also increase growth I general for all my sps?

This is the only sps that seems to have algae on it

Recently I added a lot more flow to my tank and added a doser. The growth difference for me has been astronomical, completely night and day difference.

I would lightly brush it with a toothbrush and put it in the sump completely out of light for maybe two days. Or just wait it out and see if the algae disappears on its own.

Personally it looks like it will rebound. The algae is on dead tissue. Caused most likely by one of three things.... Alk swing, Dinos or detritus build up on the monti. My money is on the dino's. I've always found that Sunburst do well in lower lighting. 150-200 par range. Flow shouldn't be an issue. Unless you only have direct flow hammering away constantly at the monti.
