Sunburt Anthias - another tank size question

I've read anywhere from 30-75G minimum. I have 53G (36") tank with pearly jaw, Pink streak wrasse, mccoskers, 3" Timor wrasse, tail spot blenny. Good skimmer/filtration.

Will one Sunburst Anthias be OK or is tank too small? I read they grow slow and stay smaller in home aquaria than 5"

Its either that or black cap basslet, but was trying to avoid any aggression issues.

75 is the recommended minimum. You should be fine with the blackcap. I would be worried that the Timor would intimidate the Sunburst and prevent it from eating.

Yeah the Timor is peaceful but she's an aggressive feeder and is the boss of the tank (well, a tie between her and the small tailspot , LOL, he takes no crap from the Timor).

I say go for it... hawk anthias are not active swimmers like others. They are happy being kept single and love to hang out near caves and overhangs.

My sunburst is pretty bold once it got acclimated, it will 'charge' at other fish in its area to defend it's spot. Not in an actual harmful way, it's all bluff. If the other fish doesn't move, she just sort of hovers there looking dumb. lol

I keep mine with a coris wrasse, blue star leopard, blenny and pearly jaw. So my stock is pretty much the same as yours.

i'd do it for sure, assuming the timor is similar to chrysus and biocellatus, aggressive eaters but the most peaceful fish. i've never seen my wrasses and my lyretail anthias have any issues, although lyretails are more aggressive than sunbursts

I dont think the Timor would be aggressive. I've also read that Sunburst Anthias grow slowly and don't normally get to the max size in home aquaria, it that anyone's experience?

I have one a few years old and it’s a great fish. Very chill as described above and messes with nobody. I have it in a 180 but honestly I have never seen it go to the left 2/3s of the tank. Even when food is in. They always stay close to home. I think you’ll be fine, a friend a while back had one without issue in a 24” wide tank for many years. Just provide plenty of caves and it will do well.
