As my sunset monti grows, its encrusting for the most part, but it also seems to be growing a few branches. Has anyone else experienced this?

I thought the same thing, but even on the frag tile? There has been no evidence of any vermetid snails on my frag tile prior to the monti encrusting, and the branches actually seem to be growing.

I have found that other montis do that as well. Have never heard the snail theory. Interesting. Here is my UWW Starburst Rainbow Monti - doing the same thing. The sunset I used to have did the same thing as well....

This grew out in my frag tank - no sand or snails in there

Although mine isn't a sunset, it is the same species and is encrusting right over my zoo's looks like a molten lava flow.
