Had the camera out today. Figured I'd show off a couple nice colonies....

This is an import that has really turned into a nice colony. It has some nice caramel undertones and yellow highlights that really make it attractive in my opninion. And it’s a very fast grower!

Cornbreds OMG!
The blue growth tips on this colony are stunning! Also, the colors it presents while it's encrusting are nice and ever changing.

Just took a peek at another mariculture I’ve been cooking for about 8 months and decided it needed some pic love. Starting to show some great coloration and shooting branches all over the place. It’s only sitting in about 225-250 par right now! Lots of potential!

Happy New Year all! I've been busy over the winter taking a ton of pics since I can't play golf, being in Ohio😅

I've been working hard dialing in the main system and things have really hit a stride lately. Great growth, best coloring I've ever had. I have been doing the Tropic Marin trace elements hybrid setup with my soda ash (alk) and calcium carbonate two part for the last year and I have to say it truly makes a difference. The only thing I've had an issue with is the potassium levels in the part C. I have gone from an average of about 380 up to 425 or more on recent ICP tests and some corals do not like it that high. So, I mix in a bit of the BRS two part magnesium into the Part C container so that I can dilute the potassium without interfering with the Magnesium levels. So far it seems to be working great. I'll be sending off a new ICP this week to confirm. I still do bi-weekly water changes but I am going to cut back on those now because the price of salt has gotten completely out of control.

The newest 8' system has still had problems with SPS but I think I have to problem figured out. I put test acros in on 1-1-26 and they are still looking great after 10 days. So if they're still holding their color and polyped out in 4 more days, that is a massive hurdle that I have finally overcome! Stay tuned for more update on that!

Some eye candy for the new year!!

This is by far the best coloration I have ever achieved on a Jolt!

Ari's Avalanche

I think this is probably the most eye catching piece I have. Pictures just don't even begin to capture the stunning blues against the whites on this one. Definitely in our top 5 favorites! Can't wait til it gets grown out some more

I have the TCK ultimate tenuis (I’m not sure if it’s that or the ultimate pink highlighter but it’s from TCK). Anyway, mine hasn't grown much at all, but it has really colored up phenomenally.
I’ve never had a coral color up this well in my tanks before.

Peng's Heart of the Ocean
Finally got a frag that will grow for me! Grabbed this one on 1-4-26 and it already has a nice little crust going. The blue/purple is SOOO intense! And the pic doesn't do it justice...

Been down and out since Jan 30th. That day I had shoulder surgery to repair 3 rotator cuff tears and a 70% dissected bicep tendon. Its was a long time coming. Many years of wear and tear and then the bicep tear at the gym meant surgery sooner rather than later. What a brutal surgery this is. I read a lot about it but I still under estimated the agonizing pain that would follow the surgery. Especially that first week! I’ve been taking my time doing reef maintenance over this period and have halted shipping.

4.5 weeks in and most of the pain is easily tolerable unless I accidentally have a sudden jerky movement to disturb it.

7 arthroscopic surgery holes! The surgery to repair the bicep tendon is crazy. They literally drill a hole in your humerus and re-anchor the tendon to the hole with a screw!! Crazy!

Looking forward to getting back into the coral photography. I am upgrading my photography gear to make it a little easier to manipulate my heavy DSLR over the frag tank. Going to be using a heavy duty Manfroto tripod with a 10” external monitor for easy shooting and review. See you all soon!
