Hello All,
My current set-up is a Marineland 75 Gallon Mixed Reef Tank, been up and running for roughly 9 months. Mostly Softies with some beginner SPS.

My current sump is a DIY 20 Gallon tank. The tank is on the first floor of the house, the sump is in the basement.

Sump currently contains the following: Pump for UV Sterilizer/ Heater / Skimmer / Rubble Rock / Frag Plugs / Bio Bricks

What I am wanting to do is switch to the Rubbermaid 50 Gallon Stock Tank. For Additional Room/ Live Rock/ Future Equipment/ and possibly a frag rack(s)/ Possible Mangroves.

Would adding a new sump of that size cause an additional cycle to start? I would slowly be adding in dry rock and if I did decide to add Mangroves I would wait at least another year. Any other concerns I should keep in mind? Or just stick with what I have since it's working?

Thank you for the help/suggestions in advance! :)

The short answer is no. You'll just have more saltwater and room for the aforementioned dry rocks you want to add (which will soon populate with beneficial bacteria).
Kinda my thoughts, but always that concern in the back of my mind.

Appreciate the quick response.
